Who are you?
The River consists of a wide range of different people, from all ages and different backgrounds. Whoever you are, you're assured a very warm welcome at The River.
When is the best time to arrive?
If it's your first visit then it's probably best to come around 9:45am. This will give you time to get the kids to Sunday School and grab a cup of coffee. While the children's Sunday School starts at 10:00am, the adults have a time of fellowship & coffee, then start the adult class around 10:15.
**NOTE: for the month of July 2014, there is no 10am Sunday School, so a good arrival time would be 10:45am.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! On Sunday mornings, you will find some of our congregation wearing their "Sunday Best" and some in casual attire. It's only important to us that you feel comfortable.
What should I expect at Sunday Worship?
For some people, going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. To help avoid any worries, here's a quick summary of what you can expect at The River. First of all, we aren't super-spiritual beings, we've all had a 'first day' at church. You'll find we are a friendly bunch, if you don't understand something, please ask.
We begin our time together worshiping in song and praise. Our worship time consists of a variety of styles of music and a live band. Please join in as little or much as you would like. There will also be a time of praying for specific needs and also a time to give in the offering. The offering time is for our members who financially support the ministry of the church. You are free to give if you'd like; however, there is no expectation nor obligation for you to give. Each Sunday, a sermon based solely on the Bible, will be preached. It is our desire that at this time you will open up your heart and allow the Lord to bless & challenge you to either begin or deepen your relationship with Him.
Is it just Sundays?
Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. We're not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we desire to make a positive difference in everything we do. To further encourage us, we have midweek bible study or LifeGroups (a meeting of about 10-15 people in someone's house). Both settings are informal and are a great way to get to know others in the church and to be real with each other about everyday living.
